Our grant programs are for WNY residents only. WNY is defined as anyone legally residing in any of the surrounding 8 counties. We have many veterans/ families who are referred to us through the Dept. of Veterans Affairs, Vet Center, Veterans Court, VFW, Veterans Homeless Center and Veteran’s Service Offices in ALL counties. WNYHeroes strives and takes great pride in making sure that our heroes are taken care of. All checks are written to the landlord, utility company, mortgage company and not to exceed the value of each program. The grants are renewable once every three (3) years. These programs are NOT an entitlement program. You MUST be a WNY resident for a minimum of one year.
 
The grant money goes to help veterans/ families with rent, mortgage, utilities, food, holiday meals etc. WNYHeroes will not provide a grant for anything that is not a necessity i.e. parking tickets, internet, cell phone, unless the cell phone is the only of communication. We also have our annual Christmas toy drive and Backpack drive.
 
Bridging Hearts - This grant gives a higher monetary value to the veteran or family in need. Veteran may apply once every three years. 
 
Pawsitive for Heroes - This program MUST be a medical referral from whoever your caregiver is. Must be a combat veteran. See more by reviewing the application. Our main school that does ALL evaluations is Canine & Company in Depew, NY
 
William E. Kramp Scholarship - Must be a child of a veteran in order to be considered. Scholarships are in the amount of $1,500.00 and four (4) a year
 
Adopt-A-Family - 3 YEAR LIMIT -  Holiday program to get our veteran families adopted for the holidays. We all know these times can be rough and for many returning home. However, they too deserve the same holiday as the rest of us.
 
Backpack Drive- A program to circulate brand new school supplies and backpacks for children of military.
 
WNY Kids Are Heroes Too - 3 YEAR LIMIT - Program was developed to assist children of military with any extracurricular activities that they might be interested in. This program will only cover up to $250.00 per child, per household. This is to include a summer camp for children who have a lost a parent to recent wars
 
Our programs are funded through donations and fundraising only. We are not state or federally funded. An investigator will review the grants to verify accuracy and truth to your request. There may also be a home visit by the investigator. Please see our Grant Guidelines for further information regarding such programs.
